Elizabeth Forest has been practicing massage therapy since 1995. She graduated from the National Holistic Institute, in California. Elizabeth is licensed in the state of Michigan and is a Professional Member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and is also a member of the Society for Oncology Massage (S4OM).
Elizabeth Forest has also received specialized training to address the physical discomfort of plantar faciitis, TMJ, whiplash, and cancer treatments. Deep relaxation to deep tissue.
Elizabeth uses Swedish massage techniques ranging from firmly gentle to deep tissue, to reduce muscular soreness and increase the body’s circulation. She also uses Shiatsu techniques that include gentle stretching and acupressure, which is using finger pressure to hold acupuncture points promoting the flow of “Chi”, or Life Force, through the body’s energy pathways. Breathing cues and energy work are also incorporated in a massage session to help you relax and unwind. You can also have crystal therapy to help balance the subtle energies of the body. Elizabeth also does on-site massage at venues ranging from support groups at hospitals to health fairs and music festivals.
Elizabeth has also received training in Oncology Massage. In Oncology Massage we use a specialized protocol that addresses our clients personal needs based on the effects of their cancer, their cancer treatment history, and their current health condition on the day of the massage. Cancer and cancer treatment have strong and unique effects on the body and it is important that the massage therapy session be adapted to these effects, and Elizabeth has the training to do this safely and effectively.
Elizabeth has more than 14 years experience working in the health food industry. She has taught vegetarian cooking classes focusing on gluten free and allergy adaptations.
